TheatreBiz Quick Questions with Charlotte Anne Steen
Charlotte Anne Steen is well-known to West End fans having been in the London productions of Bat Out Of Hell and 42nd Street. We asked Charlotte some of our stagey questions and about how she’s been coping in isolation.
Where did you train?
I trained at Laine Theatre Arts and graduated in 2010… I can’t believe it’s been 10 years!
Where do I start?! I’d love to do We Will Rock You again and get the chance to play Scaramouche…. Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and I’d also love to be green at some point…!!
Rock of Ages, Miss Saigon, Rent.. the list is endless!
Favourite show tune?
“Love you I do” from the Dreamgirls film is one of my absolute favourites! It’s an instant feelgood tune, and I sing it all the time!
I went to see Sara Bareilles in Waitress just before the theatres closed and she blew me away… her voice is just completely effortless.
Getting the chance to play both Sherrie and Regina in Rock of Ages… they are such different characters and I had the best of my life.
What would you tell your younger self?
Keep working hard and believe you can do it!!
What do you order at The Theatre Café?
Good old cuppa tea… and maybe a treat too!
If you had to be in lockdown with a celebrity, who would you choose?
Joanna Lumley…I could listen to her voice and her stories all day.
What is helping you through isolation?
I’m teaching a lot of online workshops which I look forward to and really enjoy… Oh and also chocolate and gin, haha!
