Nora seems to have it all – a successful husband, adorable children and a beautiful home. But her acceptance of the status quo is about to undergo a profound change. Is this picture-perfect life anything more than an act? And what happens if she is no longer willing to play her role?

A Doll’s House premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 21 December 1879 and is set in a Norwegian town around the same period. It is influenced by the life of Laura Kielerm a good friend of the playwright. The play deals with the fate of a married woman, who at the time had to fight for any opportunities for self-fulfilment in a male-dominated society. It questions the traditional roles of men and women in 19th-century marriage which to many 19th-century Europeans was scandalous.
Following Cyrano de Bergerac and The Seagull, the third and final show in The Jamie Lloyd Company’s Playhouse Season is a story of one woman’s fight for her own life.
