The musical opened at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon in December 2010. It opened in London in November 2011 and went on to win 7 Oliviers including Best New Musical. At the time, this was a record number for any show in the Olivier’s  36-year history. It opened on Broadway in 2013, wining five Tony awards, including the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.

Matilda The Musical has now been seen by 8 million people worldwide, having toured to over 68 cities and played more than 6000 performances in the West End, on Broadway and on tour across North America.
