Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s mesmerising score includes Think of Me, The Music of the Night, All I ask of You and Angel of Music.
The Phantom of the Opera opened in London’s 1986 and on Broadway in 1988. The show won the 1986 Olivier Award and the 1988 Tony Award for Best Musical, and Michael Crawford, who originally played the title role won the Olivier and Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical. It is the longest-running show in Broadway history, being the first show ever to exceed 10,000 performances, It is the second longest-running West End musical, after Les Misérables, and the third longest-running West End show overall, after The Mousetrap.
The current Phantom of the Opera cast includes Josh Piterman (The Phantom), Kelly Mathieson (Christine Daaé), Danny Whitehead (Raoul), Ross Dawes (Monsieur Firmin), Jacinta Mulcahy (Madame Giry), Paul Ettore Tabone (Ubaldo Piangi), Georgia Ware (Meg Giry), Britt Lenting (Carlotta Giudicelli) and Richard Woodford as (Monsieur André). Bridget Costello plays Christine Daaé at certain performances.
